VC Input #1

I want to try this format as an additional way for keeping the CYC membership up to date on the Sailing and Racing program at our club. This blog is NOT replacing emails, Down Buoy input or web postings - but there is a link from the web site to this blog. If the truth be known this is an attempt to simplify my life - we'll see if it works!

As you have read in the Down Buoy many people have been working hard to get things ready for the new sailing season. A couple of things I would like to bring to your attention - you will have received a RC Volunteer Form - please fill this out and offer some time to help out on the Race Committee boat, we need all the bodies we can get. And in case you misplaced the form Click here for a copy to download and fill it out!

As soon as the RC volunteer calendar is ready I will be posting that as well. Please feel free to email me directly any thoughts or ideas you have regarding the Sailing and Racing program at CYC.

The very latest news is that the small boat 'green' launching dock has been recovered. It was looking tatty, this happens with the heavy use the dock gets. Approximately every 4-5 years a new carpet is laid down. I chose the perfect day yesturday 12/04 - it wasn't too cold and it certainly was not wet - until we got home, hence the good timing. Chuck Linn, Stephen Smeulders and Jim Gindling a sunfish sailor from Victor (who wanted to give back in return for the hospitality CYC has shown him by allowing him sail on thursdays) all turned up to help the effort. Thanks so much guys for giving of your time, you helped make light work of the task. Enjoy the photo essay of the refreshed dock:

Removing the old carpet and nails in preparation for the new carpet.

All helpers were welcome!

Replacing / adding stainless screws to the boards.

This was quite a production line - some one screwed the holes, some one placed screws into the holes, some one drilled the screws in - over 560 screws!!

Fitting the new carpet.

The finished and refurbished dock - enjoy!
